Burana Tower is located in the Chuy Valley near the town of Tokmok, on the site of the ancient city of Balasagun — the capital of the Karakhanid Empire in the 9th–12th centuries. This region was an important hub on the Great Silk Road, linking East and West. The nearby village of Don-Aryk preserves the traditional nomadic lifestyle of the Kyrgyz people.
The excursion to Burana Tower introduces you to the heritage of ancient Balasagun, where markets, baths, and residential quarters once stood, as evidenced by preserved archaeological remains. The tower originally served as a minaret and a landmark for Silk Road caravans. The tour continues with a visit to the village of Don-Aryk, where guests will observe a traditional yurt assembly. A local Kyrgyz woman explains the meaning of each part of the yurt and treats visitors to national dishes, offering an authentic cultural experience.
